OCD – What it isn’t. What it is.
We are going to spend some time learning about OCD and what it is as well as what it isn’t. I have a very close relative who has OCD. She was diagnosed in her preteen years while undergoing a very stressful time in her home. It was very lucky for her that her mother was aware that she was behaving differently than she had just a few days before and got advice and took her to be evaluated by the family doctor and then a mental health specialist. She was treated with medication, therapy, and some slight modification of homework assignments at that time. But even as an adult, she still struggles with the disease on a daily basis. It is a lifetime illness that can be managed but not cured.
