(I would recommend that you read the complete chapter of each study verse so that you can put the chosen verse(s) into context.)

BIBLE (Version NIV)

SCRIPTURE: (Write it out): Hebrews 11:1-2 : “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.”

OBSERVATION (What I learned): Chapter 11 is known as the “faith chapter” in Hebrews. The theme continues with faith  and God’s promises to the ancients. It gives a history from the creation of the world through the prophets. To speak of faith as unseen belief is the key part of the verses.

APPLICATION (to my life): I work hard to have faith in what is not seen, but will admit that there are times when my belief wavers like when I am in the midst of a battle or a struggle as I am right now. What I am learning is that it is those times when I must read God’s word and pray even more fervently so that my faith is restored even stronger.

Prayer (use scripture as a guide): Jesus, this Chapter  reminds me of my weakness in the midst of trials. I want to be stronger and pray that you will strengthen my belief and my faith in You.  As I learn from Your word and the Holy Spirit, I grow stronger in my faith. I ask you to remind me whenever I waver to turn to You and Your word. I praise You for being there for me when I call upon you.  I praise  You for Your faithfulness. Thank You and Praise You.

Amen. Susan…
