Use the SOAP method to study a verse that speaks to you from each chapter.

Hebrews 7:26 (NIV)

26 Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

(I would recommend that you read Chapter 7:11-28 so that you can put the above verse into context.)

BIBLE (Version NIV)

SCRIPTURE: (Write it out): Hebrews 7:26: “Such a high priest truly meets our needs–one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.”

OBSERVATION (What I learned): Chapter 7 speaks about the high priesthood of Jesus first from the history of Melchizedek through Jesus and the difference between the two. This verse speaks about Jesus being the high priest and describes his character traits as holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. Jesus is unlike any other high priest appointed because he is sinless. He sacrificed himself once and for all on the cross for our salvation.

APPLICATION (to my life): I am reminded that Jesus is the greatest high priest. I am to revere him and treat him as such with all of my respect and obedience. I am to praise and honor him.

Prayer (use scripture as a guide): Jesus, Chapter 7 establishes Your holy priesthood and all of Your characteristics. I am called to honor You and praise You. You are blameless and sacrificed Your life for me so that I could be saved. Lord, help to guide me. Remind me when I am not honoring You or being obedient to Your word or the Holy Spirit’s directions. Keep me studying Your words in Hebrews. I praise You, Jesus, for You are worthy of all honor and praise and worship.

Amen. Susan…
