BIBLE (Version NIV)
SCRIPTURE: (Write it out): Hebrews 5:8-10: Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and once made perfect, he became the source for eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. (I know it is 3 verses but that is what spoke to me)
OBSERVATION (What I learned): Chapter 5 speaks about the history of the high priesthood and duties that they had. I learned that God calls you to be a high priest. These three verses refer to Jesus as our high priest. It speaks about his suffering to learn obedience and tells me he was appointed by God.
APPLICATION (to my life): Jesus is my high priest and he allows suffering for me so that I can learn to turn to him and become obedient to his words. He was called to this duty of high priesthood and became perfect before God appointed him. I am not perfect and will not be perfect until I enter God’s kingdom. But I can strive to me more Christ-like daily while on earth.
Prayer (use scripture as a guide): Dear Jesus, my High Priest, I thank you for showing how suffering and sin are tied together. Help me become obedient to you and your Holy Spirit. Please help me to not sin when I am suffering. Thank you for your protection. Lord, help to guide me. Keep me studying your words in Hebrews. Direct my path away from sin. Praise you, Jesus, my High Priest.
