Sharing Christmas and New Years – Weekend Coffee Share

If we were having coffee, I would be sharing Christmas and New Years Week. Christmas week was hectic by at the same time enjoyable. I finally got around to wrapping all the presents I had bought through and everything I ordered was there and in working order. The most fun was wrapping the presents for my granddaughter, age 6 and my grandson, age 4. I got them lots of books, art supplies, and games that they could play together when they aren’t arguing. Really they are pretty fun kids to be around. My granddaughter is so imaginative and always dressing up or playing store or school. My grandson is very, very active and always running around, building stuff, playing with his dinosaurs or trucks. In fact, the only time he is quiet for a while is when he is playing on his Kindle (a gift I bought last year for Christmas).

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I got just what I asked for Christmas. I received a NIV Rainbow Study Bible and it is really neat because it is color coded for prophecy, salvation, family, etc. I had one before when I lived in St. Petersburg, FL but My ex couldn’t find it when he looked through the house after I moved with my daughter and family to Nashville, TN. So, I am just thrilled to have it back again in a newer model.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I spent Christmas Eve alone, by choice, listening to the radio service at my old church in St. Petersburg, FL. It is Christ the Cornerstone Church and has a wonderful pastor, Pastor Joyce, and wonderful praise and worship music. I listen every Sunday morning and it was a special treat to listen Thursday evening also.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that we have a special New Years Eve party every year that is just family and includes my daughter, son-in-law, and the two grandkids plus myself. We all take naps so we can stay up late and watch the ball drop at Times Square in New York. We celebrate with some snacky foods and non-alcoholic drinks for all except my daughter and son-in-law drink a glass wine or champagne to celebrate. We have the living room decorated, and of course, streamers and horns and hats as all the trappings. It is such fun.

If we were having coffee, I would finally shut up long enough to ask you how your holidays were and if you had any special plans for New Years. I would remind you to be careful if you are going out because a lot of drunk people are on the roads that night and I wouldn’t want you getting hurt. I would ask if you are having any visitors for New Years Day and what you have planned for dinner. I would also ask if you got what you wanted from Santa.

Happy New Year from My Gang to Yours,

I Resolve To… – Tuesdays@Ten

Today I am writing a post for  Tuesday@Ten. The prompt this week is I resolve to… I will try to do so weekly on this blog. And before I confuse you, it is Tuesday evening and we have a week to post our blog. So here goes…

I resolve to…  is part of my New Years Resolution since New Years is only a few days away. Actually, I already started my resolutions when I resolved to connect with God through reading my Bible and praying daily. I started last week and haven’t missed a day yet although I had a little trouble settling into the regular time that I would do this. Since I stay up late at night blogging Susan’s Devotional Journal before 12 mn, I initially tried reading and praying after I finished my blog post.

Well, then the flu hit and I was falling asleep while trying to read or worse yet while I was praying. So, I would give up for the night and resolve to read and pray in the morning when I first got up, but then I would get busy watching CNN News and making my coffee for the morning. I finally had what I call a “come to Jesus meeting” with myself and asked just how important was this to me. I decided it was extremely important and compromised. I made my coffee (my Keurig is in my bathroom) and would not turn on the TV until I had read my Bible and prayed for as long as it took (usually about 45-60 minutes). That worked. I was diligent and resolved to fulfill my commitment.

SUCCESS!! Now, I am in the pattern and about 6:30 or 7am each day, I am able to read and pray, what I committed to God that I would do. Other things that I have resolved to do are to spend more time with my family during the New Year. I have a tendency to squirrel myself away into my room/suite lots of times and I know that my daughter and my grandkids miss me being around them. So, I plan to be aware of when I am isolating and be deliberate about spending more time out of my suite with family.

That’s it for what I want to share publicly with you. I don’t make a long list anyway. There are maybe one or two more things that I resolve to do during 2016, but I won’t divulge those things now. How about you? Do you make resolutions? Do you succeed if you do? What are your things that you resolve to…this New Year 2016?

God Bless and Happy New Year,

Sharing Myself – Weekend Coffee Share

If we were having coffee, I would be sharing myself. I would tell you that I am sorry that I didn’t post on Friday. So this is late for Friday and early for Monday. You see, I’ve been sick with the flu. Feeling quite miserable but toughing it out as best I can with cold and flu Alka Seltzer and rest. This is a new segment I’m adding to Susan’s Blog and will post each Sunday. I hope that you enjoy getting to know about my life and family.

If we were having coffee, I would thank you for reading my blogs so faithfully. I’ve blogged a little over a year now and blogging has grown from one blog to four blogs so I keep quite busy. This blog is still one of my favorites because it deals with Mental Heath and I have added Inspiration and Motivation to it. I hope you like the change. I think it is much less “clinical” and much more friendly and approachable being helpful for all who read my blog.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that we went to a place called Yogi Bear Campgrounds last evening and had a lot of fun. By “we”. I mean my daughter, son-in-law, the two grandkids ages 4 and 6, and me.  At the campground, near Nashville, TN it is a drive through Light Show to music, Christmas songs. The lights dance and move in beat to the music and it is fabulous. Even though I was sick, I felt like a child again experiencing all the lights and sparkles and music. It was such fun and afterward we stopped at Baja Burrito for some dinner before going home. Everyone had a great time, but I really was tired by the time I got home and went to bed shortly after.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my granddaughter, age 6, went with her father on a date to see the New Star Wars movie this morning. She dressed up like Princess Leia from Star Wars and my son-in-law wore his Star Wars T-shirt. We are waiting for them to return home now. Oliver, who is only 4 stayed home with mom and me and is watching Micky Mouse on his Kindle.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you what a wonderful church service I listened to on my radio through my computer. It was from Christ the Cornerstone Church in St. Petersburg, FL and was my home church before moving to Nashville, TN last year. I still miss the church dearly, but keep in touch by email and through their Prayer Group site on Facebook. It was a truly blessed service today and is such a blessing to those who can’t easily get to church because of disability.

Keep love in your heart and in your midst and all will be good for Christmas and other winter holidays.
