Sonnet to Searching

It’s hard to believe that the two weeks are up. Here is my final assignment for Writing 201 Poetry-Prompt “pleasure”. Form-sonnet, Device-apostrophe.

Sonnet to Searching

Oh, pleasure, where are you?
I search in hidden crevices.
I look behind the couch.
And yet it can not be found.

Oh, sun, where is your shine?
I search the skyways and byways.
I look up and down and around.
And yet all I see are skies of clouds.

Oh, God, where are you hiding?
I search for you in my prayers.
I dream of your dreaded absence.

Oh, God, there you are at last.
I had turned away, not you.
You were there all the time.
