The Cafe

Claire met me at the cafe in the city. She was sipping her liqueur in the corner.

“Hello Claire”

“Hello, you’re late.”

“My wife was suspicious.”

“That’s your problem. But not your only one.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m pregnant.”

“But it’s been four months.”

“That’s how far along I am. What are you going to do?”

“Well…Well…I’ll pay, of course.”

“I don’t want that. I want you to make me honest.”

“Claire…I can’t do that.”

A day later Claire’s body was found floating in a nearby river. On autopsy, it was discovered she was not pregnant.
