The Lady in White

“The only residents remaining in the small town of Miners Hill are spirits.” The visitors to the ghost town were fascinated by the stories told at the nearby resort. They went that evening ti find the beautiful “Lady in White.” Everywhere they sought her out but could not find her. As the poem about her said,

The Lady in White

Long lost and
left behind was
the Lady in White.
So sad, so forlorn…

Deserted by her
one true love.
Abandoned on
her wedding day.

She cried and left
the alter alone.
Said to have
taken her life.

The sharp knife
and the blood
ran red on as she
breathed no more.

Alone she haunts
the town each night
looking for her one
true love evermore.

30 Day Blogging Challenge Day Day 5-Comfort Foods

Day 5 What are your favorite comfort foods and why?

Comfort Me Food!

My favorite comfort foods are many depending upon my mood. You can tell I have a weight problem by how quickly I can come up with a list of comfort foods and for different occasions no less.

When I am bored I go for sweets like cookies, ice cream, popsicles, pop tarts. The flavors I am not specific about as long as they are sweet. My favorite cookies are Vienna Fingers. My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate. My favorite popsicle flavor is anything but grape. My favorite pop tart flavor is brown sugar cinnamon.

When I am sad and/or angry, I crave pizza. My favorite pizza topping was pepperoni, but recently I have switched to being a vegetarian so now I get pizza with veggies. Lucky for me, I don’t get sad or angry too often and I don’t have pizza too often. I also crave macaroni and cheese, but it has to be either Stouffer’s or home-made. I can eat Kraft mac and cheese, but that is when I am desperate. How often are you desperate for mac and cheese? Me…not so much.

That pretty well exhausts the subject of “what.” As far a the “why”, I guess it has to do with my childhood. I turned to food when I was upset, angry, hurt from abuse that I experienced between the ages of 5 and 12. I won’t bore you with the details, but I used to comfort myself with food after the abuse happened. Funny thing is that when I started to gain weight, the abuser didn’t like me “fat” so he stopped abusing me. It was a catch 22 because I wanted the abuse to stop and continued eating for that reason. Now if only I could get over it (the abuse) I could maybe keep my weight down more easily. Now, I’m hungry after talking so much about food. What is your favorite comfort food(s) and why?

See you tomorrow.
