Genre: Flash Fiction or The Truth?
Word Count: 100
Drought is what they called it; no grain in the silo and no crops this season. The sun beat down. It was 120 degrees and no breeze. Water was scarce as money. All you saw was dry parched dead weeds.
Jack and Beverly were losin’ their farm. Trouble was that even the banks were havin’ hard times. Folks couldn’t put money in ‘cause they had none. And you couldn’t get loans without a crop.
Nobody believed in climate change, but this sure did prove that the climate was a changin’.
They prayed for rain; none came. What good was prayin’?
Climate change is real folks. Don’t listen to the scientists who are afraid to give the bad news or the politicians who don’t want the truth to impact their campaigns. I read an interesting article today called “The awful truth about climate change no one wants to admit.” If you are interested you can read it or listen to the 11-minute video. If you are like most scientists and politicians, you just may ignore both. I’ll let you decide.
