Photograph For Sale
“Little did they know when the photographer took their picture that they would find themselves trapped in a painting.” The photograph was for sale before it was developed. Mardi Gras celebration was in full swing when it was taken. This was long before people needed to sign off on their rights when photographs were sold. If you took it, you owned it.
Each one of the men met with fame from a famous painting made from the photograph. This photograph was just a moment in time but defined their whole existence. The man with the umbrella was to work that day. He later killed himself because he lost his job. The man with the horn found fame and fortune from the picture. The drummer became an alcoholic when his band broke up. Lastly, the tuba player turned from his music to a living as a blue-collar factory worker.
Life challenges and changes us all. Each of these men had different stories all because a photograph was for sale.
